About Jae

I’m Jae, a software engineer from Leeds. My journey into coding started when I was 13, tinkering with Java and trying to make little programs work on an old PC. From there I moved into C#, and eventually found my home in PHP — especially Laravel — where I’ve been ever since.
Over the last ten years I’ve worked across the full stack, from building out APIs and web apps to digging into infrastructure and deployment. I’ve led teams, delivered large projects, and spent plenty of time fixing the kind of problems that only show up at 2am on a Friday.
One of my core values as a developer is simplicity. I believe the best solutions are the ones that are clear, maintainable, and don’t make life harder than it needs to be — for developers or for users.
Outside of code, I’m a husband and dad of two boys, which keeps me on my toes just as much as tech does.
Being a Yorkshireman, I’ve also got a soft spot for straight-talking and no-nonsense problem solving. I’m always open to new challenges, especially freelance projects where I can bring my experience to help people build something useful, stable, and simple.
